Summer Cinemas

Remember the drive-in movies when you were a teen and you would watch a movie and tune your radio in for surround sound in your car. Now living in Toronto we don’t have any drive-ins within a reasonable driving distance. Nearest is Oakville. As exciting as cuddling up, stargazing and watching a flick is exciting enough. This year Toronto is set to host many outdoor films, but this year they are going above and beyond with these summer features, being held throughout the city.

Cherry Beach August 17th-19th

I saved the best for last, the Sail-In Cinema at Cherry Beach is back! And only for one weekend in August. This summer you can either bring your boat and drop your anchor and watch on the open water or sit on the shore. It’s FREE and no tickets are required this year. They haven’t yet released what feature films will be playing, but there’s voting on Sail-In Cinema’s website here. Some of the titles include Mrs. Doubtfire, Night At The Museum, Edward Scissor-Hands, Beethoven and much more. So head over to their website and cast your votes. Make sure to get there early as there is limited seating on shore. Last years event attracted more than 11,000 people. Gates open at 6p.m and movies start at 8:45p.m. All ages are welcome!sil.jpg
